Family House B&B in North Cornwall

DIRECTIONS

If you have Sat Nav our postcode is PL28 8JJ but I don't know how good the route will be and you will probably still need the last map as the house is hard to find.

If you prefer maps and directions then: Follow M5 South (or from A30 join M5 at J.29) around Exeter then exit at J.31 for A30 around Okehampton and Launceston which is now all dual carriageway.

There are then two possible routes. Route A is more scenic while Route B is longer but has much more dual carriageway and is probably quicker.

Map 1

Route A

A1. Turn off A30 onto A395 at "Kennards House" which is signposted North Cornwall towards Camelford and Wadebridge.

A2. After 12 miles turn left at T-Junction onto A39 through Camelford.

A3. After 14 miles follow signs to Padstow at roundabout just before Wadebridge which is on your left as you go over the Camel Estuary bridge.

A4. After 3 miles turn right onto A389 towards Padstow. Go through St.Issey and Little Petherick (very steep hills and narrow).

A5. At the top of the hill turn left onto the B3274 towards St.Columb and St. Austell.

A6. After 11/2 miles turn right at crossroads (quite concealed) signed St Merryn.

Route B

B1. Until 2007 the A30 used to end at Innis Down near Lanivet. A new road now runs all the way to Indian Queens with no other exits.

B2. At the roundabout take the turning for the A39 (Atlantic Highway) North towards Newquay and Padstow.

B3. and B4. At these roundabouts make sure you stay on the A39 towards Padstow and Wadebridge. Do not turn off towards Newquay.

B5. After 2 miles at the Winnerds Perch roundabout turn left onto B3274 to Padstow.

B6. After 2 1/2 miles you will see Bogee Farm on your left (it's on a right hand bend). After a further 1/2 mile turn left at the crossroads (quite concealed) signed St Merryn.

7. At Give Way go straight on signed "St Merryn 3" past the disused airfield.

8. Just after Maribou Holiday Park on a right hand bend, take the left turn to Porthcothan / Treyarnon.

9. Right at T-Junction onto B3276 signed Padstow 33/4

Map 3

10. After a third of a mile turn left to Treyarnon

11. At T-Junction turn right to Treyarnon / Harlyn / Padstow

12. Take next left to Treyarnon Bay / Youth Hostel. Carry on for about 1/2 mile then you will see the sea ahead of you to your left and on the right is a big car park.

Map 4

13. Go down the road next to the car park entrance with the "No Entry Access only" sign (sort of straight on - but not onto the beach!). Watch out for children running across this road from the hedge with the car park, the road has many pot-holes and the cliff edge is on your left!

14. Follow the road round to the right, past the Youth Hostel and go straight on with the common on your left. Half way along the tarmac road turns to the right but you need to go straight on so that you are on the track.

15. Bear left at the end so that you are aiming for the sea this brings you onto the grass and the house is the dark slate one about 100 yards down on the right hand side. The entrance is a gate before you pass the house - you can't miss it!
